What matters most is the Journey not the Destination
Winding mountain back roads...
What is around that bend in the road? It calls to you, beckons you to explore. One more turn – what will you find? You follow the yellow line in the foggy early morning mist. Slowing at the curve and alert to the what ifs. You’ve chosen a sporty, spunky convertible for this journey and it hugs the road and says “yes” this is what I have been made for. Easily and effortlessly you take each turn. And then a clearing to the left – still snow covered with glistening Colorado pines standing centennial – a herd of white tail deer scratching and digging to find some fresh shoots of grass. And an old wooden mine shaft still standing, barely, as it leans into the North wind, a tribute to the colorful past of this area. And then you climb higher and another turn in the road. And another and another. You trust the road is truly safe and will take you to the destination promised on your map. You trust your instincts about where you can and cannot go. When to stop, when to slow, when to turn around and go back. And sometimes these mountain roads go nowhere or turn into a rough, dirt, one lane road. Won’t take a chance there. Then you have to turn around and find another route. But it was fun anyway – you saw so many interesting things along the way.
And finally the road comes to your destination. And you will do it all over again another time because it is the drive that gave you much pleasure and the destination was just your reason to embark on this journey.
Isn’t that what life is all about? The journey not the destination.
Enjoy the Journey as you discover some
